The key to painting commissions is to keep the customer happy, yet not compromise one's style and artistic sensibilities. This was the composition the customer wanted and I went with this, although I made the subjects a bit bigger than life. This painting, A Day for Artur, was done for a family in Dubai and is part of my "Family from the Back" series.
The second commission has more landscape qualities to it and is right up my alley. The challenge was the sand in making it textural. Of course anatomy is always a challenge and I had fun with the sarong and hair. Island Linda is part of my "Family from the Back" series, and will reside in Calgary, Alberta.
